Questions
Common questions about a work injury claim
Do I need a lawyer?
Not for every claim. If your claim was accepted and you are paid on time, you may be fine. If it was denied, your checks stopped, or the injury is serious, a lawyer usually helps.
How much does it cost?
No fee unless we recover benefits. Our fee is a share of them, set or approved by the agency that decides your claim. Case costs, like medical records, are separate and explained in writing first; you may owe them even if no benefits are recovered.
How long will it take?
Some claims are settled in a few months. Contested ones take longer. Once we have read your file, we will tell you what to expect.
Can my employer fire me for filing?
In most places the law forbids it. If you are fired, demoted or suddenly short on hours after you report an injury, tell us right away.
Does my immigration status matter?
Many workers worry about this. We do not report anyone, and in many places status does not decide whether you can claim. Ask us privately, before you decide not to.
What if my employer pays me in cash?
You can still be an employee, and you may still have a claim. Bring any texts, photos, schedules or names that show you worked there.
Do I have to come to the office?
Not for most things. Phone, text and mail work. We meet in person for hearings and for big decisions.
What should I have ready for the first call?
Your name, where you work, what happened and when. Anything in writing helps, but you can call without any of it.
Your question is not here?
Ask us directly. A first call costs nothing.
Please don't send confidential details through the form.
